COVID-19 Support Donation Project

In March 2020, TAFSD launched a donation drive to support local efforts against the COVID-19 epidemic. The donations raised were used to purchase a variety of PPE equipment, such as goggles, protective masks, and N95 masks, from Taiwan. After asking local medical organizations, we learned that Chula Vista is the hardest hit area in San Diego County and the Sharp Hospital there urgently needed these medical protective equipment to protect their staff and nurses. Therefore, most of the medical protective equipment purchased were donated to Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center.

Meantime, Sewing Angel members of the North America Taiwanese Women's Association (NATWA-GSD) used the Taiwan Center facilities during this pandemic to sew thousands of “nurse caps” for the ICU nurses of Sharp and Scripps hospitals. They also made cloth masks, obtained support from local communities, and donated funds to give back to the hospital.
