拜登總統在《60分鐘》節目談台灣

美國總統拜登9月18日在接受美國CBS電視台《60分鐘》節目專訪時談及台灣問題。同鄉會鄉訊編輯室謹將三個問題和回答，逐字逐句，在此轉述。

節目主持人問：

(1) 有什麼是習主席應該知道關於你對台承諾？What should Chinese President Xi know about your commitment to Taiwan?
拜登答：我們認同很久之前簽訂的內容，且有個”一中政策”，台灣對於他們的獨立有自己的判斷，我們不會有動作、不會鼓勵他們獨立，那是他們的決定。We agree we signed on a long time ago and there is “One-China Policy”. Taiwan makes their own judgment about their own independence. We are not moving, we are not encouraging them being independent. We are alert that’s their decision.
(2) 但美國軍隊會保衛這座島嶼嗎？But would U.S. forces defend the island?
拜登答：是的。如果的確發生了前所未有的襲擊。Yes, in fact, if there is an unprecedented attack.

(3) 所以講明白一點，假如中共侵台的話，美國軍方不論男女都將保護台灣? To be clear, Sir, U.S. forces, U.S. men and women, would defend Taiwan, in the event of Chinese invasion?
拜登答：是的。Yes!
